Mauro, I am having a little trouble tracking down a Nina recording and wondered if you could help

I have a tape I bought in Singapore in the late 1970's and it had part of the "Here Comes The Sun" LP plus part of "It Is Finished".

It also had a number of songs from an album it called "This Is Nina Simone".

I have spent a while trying to track this recording down using your web page and can only come up with something you call "USA, 1975 Live Session"

But what I understand is that this was never recorded so what do I have. The reason I am trying to find this is that my tape is getting old and needs replacing

    Any help would be appreciated

What is the date of Nina Simone-Live in Europe (cassette, Phoenix 241). I have only one cassette. Is it part of a two-cassette package? On the cassette is the date, 1982, but All-Music Guide says it was released in the 1990s.

    Thanks,

    Mauro,

I like what you have done with the Nina Homepage. I have a question that maybe you can answer for me or point me in the right direction.

10+ years ago I bought a tape in Singapore which was a number of Nina's records recorded onto tape. It has some songs of "Here Comes The Sun" some somgs of "It Is Finished" and some songs of an album it calls "This Is Nina Simone"

    The songs are named as;
    Strange Fruit
    I Love To Love
    Ding Song
    Sinnerman
    Sugar In My Bowl

I cannot find this album on the home page and no mention of all these songs being recorded together.

It is a live recording but thats all I know. As the tape is now quite old I wanted to try and buy it on CD.

Any chance you could help me.

    Hello

I miss the following in the discography:

Nina performed as singing guest during a huge gala at Berlin's "Funkausstellung" in August 1967 ("Radio Exhibition"). The gala at this annual (?) event was special because it was a live broadcast on German TV (approx. from 8 to 10 p.m.) and during this show the COLOUR television was officially introduced in Germany, by the pressing of a red button, I think it was pushed by the German chancellor at this time, Willy Brandt...(?)

Shortly after, a special 12" LP was offered, that included the music and singing of all artists of this evening gala, including Nina. I once owned this LP (which was not officially available, but more a limited "souvenir" for the insiders of the radio/tv industry), and I remember that the LP included one or even two songs that Nina performed. It was either the "Backlash Blues" or "Blues for Mama", or both. Sorry, but I sold my whole LP collection in 1970, so I don't remember exactly the amount of titles... But I'm sure that Nina was included, and it was the only singer that was worth to have this LP, the rest was the usual German (!) showbiz bullshit.I was very proud of my rare "souvenir" LP, then... but just because it contained this (these) Nina song(s).

    My best regards

    Klaus D. Mueller
