From: Kieran Turner <kieran@kemptown.org>
    Hi Mauro,

I found your email address on the Nina Simone website, and I hope you don't mind my asking your advice. I'm trying to get hold of a copy of "At Town Hall" (or, specifically, any album with a recording of Nina performing "Summertime") - with no success so far. So I wonder if you have any suggestions - perhaps recommended dealers you know of who are good at finding such things?

    Any help much appreciated,
    Cheers,
    Kieran Turner

Is far as I know, the CD At Town Hall was published in Italy only by Green Line.

    hello Mauro
I heard this track last night which was cracking, it sounded a bit like a funky remix with some more electronic inserts than are usual in a Nina track which made me fear that it may be just a rare club sample..

I have just learnt that Ike and Tina Turner did a version of Funkier than a Mosquito's Tweeter so maybe Nina covered it.

    Can You help??!

I'll try a couple of other websites in case you're off on an extended holiday but i hope to hear from you anyway:-)

    cheers

Hello: Nina Simone gave a great performance in the newly built New Jersey Center for the Performing Arts. I was in the third row, and have written a brief review for a local newspaper; if you are interested in it, I can post it here. Ms. Simone seems slightly unhealthy; her walking is laboured, and she seemed fatigued. Her voice was for the most part fine; it was a beautiful reception, and one of the finest shows I have encountered.

    Dear Mauro,

First of all I would like to thank you for the outstanding web pages you've made on Nina Simone.
Secondly, perhaps you could help me with something, or at least point me in the right direction.
I'm looking for Ms. Simone's autobiography, "I put a spell on you.".
Book-stores here in the Netherlands were able to tell me the book is out of print. I've tried to find it in several second hand shops, but no luck.

I appreciate your help in advance.
    Best,

    Sara Gavriely-Zorandy

    Dear Mauro

I have a query regarding the sheet music of Nina. I live in Australia and I think there is a conspiracy with all of the music stores. Nobody stocks any Nina Simone written music.

I am a jazz singer and would love to sing two partiular songs of Nina's

    Blues for Mama
    Go to Hell

Can you please help me by telling me where, if possible, I can obtain the sheet music for these two songs.

Of course if they are not available I will have to try to write the chords from the CD. I am currently at a dead end, in every sense of the word, in finding this music.

    Dear M,

Well, today is the famed arrival of Ms. Simone in the Emerald City, Seattle...
I'm more excited than I ever have been for an impending show.... It should be
    lovely.

I am writing for several reasons... The first is that I would like to submit a review of the concert, tentatively tomorrow morning. Also, I would like to send you an article in a local magazine that was put out yesterday --- The Stranger included a page-long article about Ms. Simone. This article also included a painting of Nina I have never seen. I will be sending that along in an attached file so you can include it on your website if you like....

Hope you, too, will have the fortune of seeing the High Priestess of Soul on this wonderfully unexpected tour !

And, enjoy the article... I should be sending it along shortly!

My mail programm had some problems last week, so I send you this message
    again to be sure.

    Dear Mauro Boscarol,

It's a great Nina site you have build. I'm a great fan of Nina Simone, but
only recently when I bought her CD Saga… I thought of looking at the web.
Its a pleasure to see such an extensive database of information with such a
    clear and sober lay-out.
I couldn't help copying more than 800 files to my PC, so I have now a
private Nina Simone database at home.
I also worked with Frontpage 2 to make a local web out of it. With the
option Verify hyperlinks I found this list of broken and misfitting links
    in your Nina web:
    - I'm afraid that in almost all of the albums there is a shift of one
position in the links: the information links and the audio links don't fit
with the titles - cp135 is not linked from where\theotherwoman and
where\itmightaswellbespring (code </A> is in the wrong position)
    - cp143 is not linked from where\sommertime (sOmmertime?) and
    where\fineandmellow
    - cp151 is not linked from where\sincemylovehasgone
    - links to where\imgonnasay don't fit (from The Story, Las Vegas, Songs and
    Moon of Alabama)
    - the files concert\weimar\… are incomplete or missing
    - the files where\maaintcominhome, where\silvercitybound,
    where\alliwantfromyou, where\ambe, where\belenfantnoir, where\cositiamo and
    where\icantstandyou are missing
    - there's missing a title in songsauthorW
    - the Las Vegas session '65 misses in the list
    - in cover.html 4 links have too much code (\\html): icantseenobody,
    inthemorning, pleasereadme and tolovesomeDoBy (!).
Still I think you did a marvellous job.
I hope that I've been to service with you,

    Dear Mauro,

Hello, my name is Natalie Pancer and I work for a company called Ron Proulx International in Toronto. We license music for filmed entertainment. I have a question for you:

What is the name of the company that owns the synchronization rights / publishing rights to Nina Simone's arrangement of "Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair?" I realize that this is a traditional song and there might not be any synch rights but I'm just checking to make sure.

If you or someone you know can answer this question, please contact me at your earliest convenience.

Thank you so much for your attention to this matter, I truly appreciate it.

    Sincerely,

    Natalie Pancer

i want to give it to a dear friend of mine who, after divorcing her husband in the late seventies, played "the assignment" over and over until the lp was completely ruined. i mean she played it for MONTHS, until her pain from the separation had subsided. have you any clues, my friend? is it at least available on vinyl in good condition??

    Dear Mauro,

I have only recently "discovered" the talent of Nina Simone. As you may or
may not have seen, the clothier, Banana Republic have been running a series
of television commercials for their suede clothing line; the advertisement
uses one of Nina Simone's songs. Being a Simone neophyte I do not know the
title and thus album that the song is on and would greatly appreciate it if
you could share the title with me. By the way, i really enjoyed the web
page, the sound bite clips section is particularly nice.

    Thank you

Subject: piano track quest

Hi! Some time years ago I heard a track in which Nina played a jazz piano solo.
Despite much searching subsequently, the only piano track I've managed to find
is Blue(s?) on purpose. Any other suggestions?

    Many thanks,

    Paul

These are the instrumental tracks recorded by Nina

African Mailman
Central Park Blues
Good Bait
Nina's Blues
Return Home
Theme from "Sayonara"
Under the Lowest
Blues on Purpose
Summertime
The Thrill Is Gone (suggested byNed French)

There is also a version of "Love Me or Leave Me" from album "Let It All Out" (1965), reissued also on CD. It contains a solo piano of over 2 minutes with several interpolations of simil-Bach choruses. (Thank you Marie Lamb)

Mauro, I'll go to your website in a minute, but I thought you would have the
answer to this: a while back I found a Nina CD that included a song I never
knew she had recorder or sang, The Man With A Horn. It is an absolute favorite
among my favorite torch songs. I've tried to find the CD again, but no luck.
Can you supply name, label, etc?
