Subject: Nina Simone / At Town Hall Date: Sun, 08 Nov 1998 16:06:15 +0000 From: Kieran Turner <kieran@kemptown.org>
I found your email address on the Nina Simone website, and I hope you don't mind my asking your advice. I'm trying to get hold of a copy of "At Town Hall" (or, specifically, any album with a recording of Nina performing "Summertime") - with no success so far. So I wonder if you have any suggestions - perhaps recommended dealers you know of who are good at finding such things? Any help much appreciated, Subject: funkier than a mosquito's/monkey's tweeter Date: Fri, 11 Sep 1998 12:46:27 +0100 From: Fiona McHardy" <phynona@dial.pipex.com>
I heard this track last night which was cracking, it sounded a bit like a funky remix with some more electronic inserts than are usual in a Nina track which made me fear that it may be just a rare club sample.. I have just learnt that Ike and Tina Turner did a version of Funkier than a Mosquito's Tweeter so maybe Nina covered it. Can You help??! I'll try a couple of other websites in case you're off on an extended holiday but i hope to hear from you anyway:-) cheers Subject: Date: Thu, 10 Sep 1998 03:58:04 -0400 From: "Chris Ballas" <cgballas@ptdprolog.net>

I have a query regarding the sheet music of Nina. I live in Australia and I think there is a conspiracy with all of the music stores. Nobody stocks any Nina Simone written music. I am a jazz singer and would love to sing two partiular songs of Nina's Blues for Mama Can you please help me by telling me where, if possible, I can obtain the sheet music for these two songs. Of course if they are not available I will have to try to write the chords from the CD. I am currently at a dead end, in every sense of the word, in finding this music. Well, today is the famed arrival of Ms. Simone in the Emerald City, Seattle... I am writing for several reasons... The first is that I would like to submit a review of the concert, tentatively tomorrow morning. Also, I would like to send you an article in a local magazine that was put out yesterday --- The Stranger included a page-long article about Ms. Simone. This article also included a painting of Nina I have never seen. I will be sending that along in an attached file so you can include it on your website if you like.... Hope you, too, will have the fortune of seeing the High Priestess of Soul on this wonderfully unexpected tour ! And, enjoy the article... I should be sending it along shortly! I am very impressed with the care and dedication that went into your web site on Nina Simone. I found your site while trying to locate an album of hers. My mother has been asking me to try to find a copy of "Jazz as played in an exclusive side street club". Indeed, your site shows it as part of her discography. In searching through some record distributors, I have been told that it is no longer available for them to order. My question for you is this: do you happen to know where we might order a copy of this title? Any thoughts that you might have would be appreciated. I have a tape I bought in Singapore in the late 1970's and it has all of the "Here Comes The Sun" LP plus part of "It Is Finished". It also had a number of songs from an album it calls "This Is Nina Simone". I have spent a while trying to track this recording down using the Nina web site and can only come up with something called "USA, 1975 Live Session" But what I understand is that this was never recorded so what do I have. Dear Mauro, Hello, my name is Natalie Pancer and I work for a company called Ron Proulx International in Toronto. We license music for filmed entertainment. I have a question for you: What is the name of the company that owns the synchronization rights / publishing rights to Nina Simone's arrangement of "Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair?" I realize that this is a traditional song and there might not be any synch rights but I'm just checking to make sure. If you or someone you know can answer this question, please contact me at your earliest convenience. Thank you so much for your attention to this matter, I truly appreciate it.
