From the musical The King and I. Based on Margaret Landon's short storyAnna and the King of Siam, from which was also made in 1946 a film by John Cromwell with Rex Harrison, the musical The King and I (with Yul Brynner and Gertrude Lawrence, music by Richard Rodgers, book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II) opened on March 29, 1951, at the St. James Theatre in New York.
In the 1956 it was made into a motion picture by Walter Lang, again with Yul Brynner while Deborah Kerr was given the role performed by the late Gertrude Lawrence.
In the original Broadway version "Something Wonderful" was singed by Dorothy Sarnoff.
